Minutes, Ladies Aid Society Executive Board
Excecutive board discussed the preparation for the SJC Triennial which will take place in Washington D.C from November 14-19. Also the board recommended the Temple's Ladies Aid Society leave the state federation. Appealed for funds to support the Levy Memorial Hospital.

General meeting to pass the vote to leave the state federation and send President A. M. Lindau to the SJC Triennial in Washington D.C. Mrs. Blanch Shaffer from the North Carolina College for Women gave a speech about "The Family Diet." $10 was appointed tp the Florida Relief Fund and $25 to the Livi N. Levy Memorial Hospital.

General meeting announced various events taking place throughout the city including a shower at the Children's Home. Sewing committee made socks for the Tuberculosis Hospital. Mrs. Zolliman lectured on "Clothing the Family." The council pledged to raise $500 to aid with the payment of the Temple's debts. Mrs. Weinberg was elected to take President A.M. Lindau's place at the SJC Triennial.

Civics and Health Committee announced the success of the N.C. Children's Hospital Show, the upcoming Red Cross Seal Sale, and the $5 donation to OTEEN. Three dollars was sent to the "Congress for the Cause and the Cure of War." Mrs. Sidney Stern, Mrs. Charles Weill, Mrs. E. M. Oettinger, and Mrs. Julius Cone elected as delegates for the SJC Triennial.

The Greensboro Section of the Council of Jewish Women transferred from the southern district of the Council of Jewish Women to the Mid-Atlantic district. Mrs. Blanche Lambe, a former city nurse, gave a lecture on House Nursing and Hygiene. Funds were allocated for the Women Legislation Committee who gave a report on the upcoming US and NC legislation for the year. Mrs. Julius Cone announced a separate meeting for the League of Women Voters. Civics Committee had a successful sale of seals benefiting the Tuberculosis Association. Notes in Mrs. Sidney Oaks Lindeman letterhead mentioning $10 was doubled for an electric refrigerator for Rest Cottage

Miss Paterson of the North Carolina College for Women spoke about Planning the Home. The Conference of the State Association of Jewish Women will be held on March 6th and 7th in Winston-Salem. Chairman of the Peace Committee asked women to write the president about taking action regarding Mexico and Nicaragua.

Executive meeting announcing the Southern District of the Council of Jewish Women's acceptance of the Greensboro Section resignation. A check for $250 was given to the Temple to go towards the Ladies Aid Society, a pledge of $500 made for the Temple's debts. Mrs. Weil, chairman of the Peace and Arbitration Committee reported 50 letters were to be sent to the president requesting action in Mexico and Nicaragua.

This general meeting for the month of March was held on February 28 in order to allow everyone to attend the Conference of the State Association of Jewish Women. Miss Peterson of the North Carolina College for Women gave a lecture on Furnishing of the Home. Mid-Atlantic District Vice President Mrs. Sydney Cone of Baltimore welcomed the Greensboro Section to the Mid-Atlantic district.

Mrs. Paul Lindey gave a lecture on Planting for the Home, the last lecture from this home talk series. Ladies Aid Society to help the Sisterhood and Sunday School pay for the social hall stage curtains. Nomination Committee handed in nominations for the executive board.

Meeting took place over a luncheon in the ballroom of the King Cotton Hotel with Rabbi Ellis as a guest. Old officers gave speech and new officers were sworn in. Mr. W. L. Bost gave a speech on why the womens's legislation committee was failing to make an impact.

Mr. R. J. Douglas gave a lecture on Greensboro history. The Blind and Deaf Committee would be absorbed by the Social Welfare Committee. Flannes were sent to the Rest Cottage and a Sewing Committee was to start knitting caps for the Red Cross.

Meeting began with a solo from Mrs. Caldwell. Began the year's new program, "Our City Government," with a talk from Mr. Robert Mosely. Fundraising within the circles are successful and garments are being made for the Red Cross. Mrs. Arno of the City Libraries spoke about the Library's efforts to establish patient libraries in local hospitals.

Mrs. Lewis Alexander gave a talk about the Greensboro City Courts and Hattie Weinberg read the Chanukah story. The meeting also discussed funding and support for the Hadassah Milk Fund, OTEEN, NC Children's Hospital, and the Juvenile Court System. There was also mention of a Dutch treat luncheon with Field District Secretary, Hortense Brickler.

The meeting minutes opened with a talk from Helen Chandley about the City Board of Welfare. Etta Spier read the resolutions written by the Temple in condolence for the deaths of Bertha (Mrs. E) Sternberger and Julius Cone. Discussion included aiding Ellis Island immigrants and the Travelers Aid by sewing clothing, flannel kimonos, sheets, and pillowcases. In addition 18 infant slips were sent to the Hadassah Milk Fund and volunteers working with children at St. Leo's Hospital. Mrs. Charles Weill discusses a magazine article about vetoing the Women's Naval Program.
Tribute to the late Bertha Sternberger
Mentioned in the March 5,1928 notes is a tribute to the late Bertha Sternberger. The tribute discusses her husband, Emanuel Sternberger and her work and dedication to the Greensboro Jewish community. It mentioned how the Sternbergers opened their home to all Jewish people in the city and that it was center for the community until the Greene Street Temple was built. Bertha Sternberger served on the Council of the Ladies Auxiliary before it merged with the Sisterhood, Chairman of Temple Emanuel's Ground Committee, and a founder of the North Carolina Association for Jewish Women. In addition she created a scholarship fund for Hebrew Union College and started Temple Emanuel's Reference Library. The four-page tribute was typed on Mrs. Julius W. Cone's letterhead.
