Moving Day

We are close to the end of the line for our legacy digital collections site, which was built using the CONTENTdm software platform. This site has been in place for almost thrteen years, and in 2019 we bgain a major content migration to the open-source Islandora platform. We launched the new site (with the new name, Gateway) in March, but the old site has still been avilable in the interim as well. All collections have been migrated into the new interface, except for the N.C. Runaway Slave Ads Project, which is in the process of being integrated into the Digital Library on American Slavery. Once that happens, we will "flip the switch" on CONTNETdm and all links on the old site will redirect to Gateway.

Current status:

  • All collections except N.C. Runaway Slave Ads Project are now in Gateway.
  • Old site is still live, but links in the hader now point to corresponing pages on Gateway.

In October:

  • Most pages on the old site will be redirected to Gateway. We will provide automtaic redirects for most digital objects, but this will not be possible for some.
  • Items in the N.C. Runaway Slave Ads Project will redirect to their new homes in the Digital Library on American Slavery.
  • Links to the site from the Digital Public Library of America and WorldCat should still work in general, but there will be exceptions.

After the first of the year:

  • Links to the site from the Digital Public Library of America and WorldCat should be fully redirected.
