The 1973 yearbook contains an aerial view of campus, photographs of Greensboro, poetry, political caricatures, an article on student's involvement in the 1972 presidential campaigns, a question and answer article with Chancellor Ferguson and staff of the University, articles of student's experiences on campus, photographs and descriptions of University staff, and articles and photographs on the University's academic departments.

The 1974 yearbook contains photographs of campus, an article and photograph about how the 1973 energy crisis "hits home", photographs of a streaking demonstration on campus by students, photographs of Greensboro, photographs of the celebration of Founder's Day 1973 where Winston Churchill III spoke, photographs of The Marshall Tucker Band, and photographs of singers Anne Murray and Harry Chapin performing.

The 1975 yearbook contains political photographs surrounding the Nixon Impeachment, a Zig Bop cartoon of "A Guided Tour of UNCG", articles and photographs about student life, and photographs of a student rally protesting tuition increases.

The 1976 yearbook celebrates the American bicentennial. It contains photographs of campus and life on campus, an article written by a student about their "black experience" as a student at UNCG, advertisements by the Major Attractions Committee presenting the Charlie Daniels Band, the Atlanta Rhythm Section, Grinderswitch, The Outlaws, Kansas, and Graham Central Station. It also contains flyers from theatre dramas and music concerts as well as the Spring Fling schedule.

The 1977 yearbook contains photographs of campus, the Greensboro Fair, comical cartoon sketches by Guillermo Velasco, an article about the ghost of Aycock Auditorium, Jane Aycock. It also contains two color fold out photos, an interview with the chancellor, an interview with Sam, the receptionist at the Registrar's Office. The yearbook contains Halloween photos of students, and photographs of Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter for the presidential election campaign of 1976.

The 1978 yearbook contains a photograph of the UNCG Softball's team winning the State Championship of 1977, a photograph of the "Last Great Beer Blast" and an article about the North Carolina General Assembly prohibiting the sale of alcohol on N.C. campuses. The yearbook features a photograph and article about Art Buchwald's visit to campus, and an article entitled, "A Founders Day tribute to the Co-Founders" celebrating the University's eighty-fifth anniversary. It also contains a photograph of singers Harry and Tom Chapin, a student ID and interview of "Nappie", the first canine student.

The 1979 yearbook contains articles and pictures about monthly events including the 1978 Spring Fling, the Tate Street Fair, the Tom Chapin Concert, the musical "Hello Dolly!", and FALDERAL, the annual Founder's Day celebration. It also includes a description and pictures of "Operation Rescue" which was a simulated accident and rescue operation coordinated by the Emergency Medical Association. The yearbook also includes an article and photograph about Chancellor Ferguson's decision to resign and return to teaching.

The 1981 yearbook contains photos of campus events, including local Greensboro, a peace march, and music concerts that featured Doc Watson and the Doobie Brothers. It also shows photos of the presidential election of 1980 and of student life. Upon closing, the editors of Pine Needles mentioned that the administration is considering that Pine Needles be expended and asks for campus support and input if they wish for the annual yearbook to continue.

The 1982 yearbook contains photos of Greensboro's annual event called "City Stage", student life, student sports, and campus events. It also contains descriptions and photographs of academic departments, photos entitled "UNC-G speaks out" that includes a photo of Greensboro's mayor, Jim Melvin, thanking Benjamin Cone Sr. for his gift to UNC-G. The yearbook also discusses the latest Greensboro Coliseum events and concerts that include Mickey Gilley, Johnny Lee, Earth, Wind and Fire, and Barry Manilow, etc.

The 1983 yearbook contains articles about changes of tradition at UNCG, celebrating UNCG's first homecoming, a reflection on UNCG's history, the 1980 decision of approval by UNCG for the colonization of sororities and fraternities, UNCG's recent sports winnings, and the history of the "rock" on campus. It contains pictures and an article about the "1982 City Stage", an article of the Founder's Day celebration where Dr. James Fisher asked for private support of UNCG, and a copy of UNCG's 50th Anniversary Litany of Commemoration. It also features an article and pictures of fun events such as the "Love boat" party where they turned the EUC into the U.S.S. Elliot, and a dance, the MDA Superdance to raise money for MDA, the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The yearbook also contains photos of national and state news, an introduction of February as being UNCG's Black History Month that featured guest Maya Angelou for the University Concert/Lecture series, an article and photos of EUC's 30th anniversary that included a visit from guest Red Skelton, an article about UNCG's Spartan soccer team winning the National Championship in the 1982 season, and an article on Commencement and alumni involvement, as well as a copy of the Commencement Address.

The 1984 yearbook announced its discontinuation following 1984. It contains photos of campus, events, an article about Coit being UNCG's first co-ed dormitory, photos and articles about student life, student activism, the UNCG Dance Company, MDA Superweek that raised money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Black History Month, Graduate Artist's Studios, a Mardi Gras party, Adult Students, Living and Learning At Residential College, a Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention that was funded and hosted by UNCG, UNCG's rugby team, the Ruggers, won the State Championship. It also includes photos of Greensboro's renovation with a "Old Greensborough" theme, and photos and articles about 1984 graduation.

The 1986 yearbook contains photos of student life, articles about campus including sunbathing, the library, Tate Street, local Greensboro hot spots for students, the ARA dining experience, graffiti on campus, the renovation of Spencer Halls, The 1985 Miss Neo-Black Society Pageant, the Residential College, and the M.F.A. Writing Program. It also contains articles and photos about various academic departments and people, the Women's Studies program, the Home Economics School, Activism, Censorship, orientation, the fire in Reynolds Hall, UNC-G changes to without a hyphen as UNCG, Homecoming 1985, Dorm Life, WUAG, Lovefeast, the Festival of Lights, High Point Road and fast food, UNCG Soccer Spartans won the 1985 Championship, campus issues, current music, movies and books.

It also contains an article about the Charles McIver statue, UNCG's reaction to the new North Carolina obscenity law, the Rededication of Spencer Hall, the renovation of the dining hall, and the Bindery Donut.
