Among the major book collections in Special Collections are the large and significant Woman's Collection, with titles from the fifteenth through the twentieth centuries; the American Women's Detective Fiction Collection; the Girls' Books in Series Collection; the American Trade Binding Collection; the Juvenile Collection; and the Book Arts Collection.
Oral History Collections
UNC Greensboro maintains a number of oral history collections relating to the campus, the region, and the broader national community.
Triad Area City Directories
City directories are an invaluable resource for historians, geneaologists, and building researchers, among others. They provide unique data on urban areas including individual and business addresses and telephone numbers, occupations and employers of individuals, and a classified business directory. Many also include "reverse lookup" address and telephone listings. Some also included sections detailing the history and government of the cities and states included in the directory as well as other information of interest to the businesses that were the primary audience of the books. Some early directories were segregated, presenting white and "colored" listings in separate sections or "departments."
UNC Greensboro Publications
The publications of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and its predecessors present a valuable record of the development of the university and of changing cultural and social values since before the turn of the Twentieth Century. Included are both student and administrative publications, ranging from the fine arts magazine to the student newspaper and course catalogs. The publications are richly illustrated and reflect the design and fashion aesthetics of their times.

The University Archives Collections showcase documents, photographs, and publications related to the history of UNC Greensboro, culled from multiple collections belonging to the Martha Blakeney Hodges Special Collections and University Archives.
