1910 textile history letters [vertical file]
A collection of letters related to requests for information for "The History, Development, and Influence of Cotton Mills in North Carolina." The inquiries were made by State Normal and Industrial College librarian Annie F. Petty and future alumnus Clara Booth Byrd. Assisting in the research were Bernard Cone, D. A. Tompkins, and representatives of many cotton mills and banks.
1986 Greensboro annual report
This annual report provides a highly detailed review of the municipal government services and activities. These in depth descriptions of city government include an organizational chart, a general budget, a description of how bonds are used, and highlights from municipal services over the past year. Of note, the report also reviews existing minority programs, urban renewal under the Redevelopment Commission, and technologies in current use.

This issue mentions the names of the officers and faculty of the college, description of the different factories and departments, and how Cotton Mill and Manufacturing Plants contributed to the growth of Greensboro. Also mentions the emergence of businesses because of the success of the Cotton Mill and Manufacturing Plants.

The Educational Statistics of the North Carolina Negro report produces statistics for the years 1884, 1892, 1898, 1908, and 1912. Categories include school population, enrollment, attendance, property value, and teacher salary. Data is compared across race (and gender, where appropriate). Of particular interest is the information on colleges and universities, which mentions Shaw University, Livingstone College, three Greensboro institutions (Bennett College, Immanuel Lutheran College and Theological Seminary, and The Agricultural and Mechanical College), and several others.
