Includes compositions titled "Home", "Winter", "Industry", "The Sabbath", "Friendship", "Education", "Nature", "Night", "Minerals", "Grow", "Contrast Between Morning and Evening", "Gold", "Horses", "Water". Also contains notes on John Bunyan, John Milton, English history, contemporaneous writers, history of English Literature, and Shakespeare"s Othello. An essay on Latin, and an essay called "A criticism on Locksley Hall" are also included.

: Miscellaneous; Various documents which belonged to Dr. Charles D. McIver from about 1898 to 1906. These items represent many of Dr. McIver's affliations and memberships with regional and national organizations. Topics include W.H. Ragsdale, George Foster Peabody, the North Carolina Teachers Assembly, the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA), University Club, Pennsylvania Society, and Westmoreland Club. Also included are Southern Education Board records of spending for the new Normal and Industrial School, material on various railroad agencies, notes possibly from educational conferences, and a complete essay by a critic of non-religious education.

Includes notes and possible assignment essays by Harry McIver about ancient Egypt, Assyria, Jerusalem, Phoenicia, Chaldea, Media, Persia, India, China, Greece and Rome plus illustrated charts and maps, and historical and political histories of these civilizations.

Includes a few pages of mathematical notes, notes on the national debt, national banks, liabilities, coal and oil, and historical geology, plus geological illustrations by McIver.
