Matthew passion
Recitaves and arias from the St. Matthew Passion. The first pair, no. 40 and 41 are originally for tenor and viola da gamba; the second aria, unnumbered, is for bass voice, viola da gamba, and continuo. Both have only the parts for viola da gamba. The recitativo is a chordal arrangement extracted from the score. Manuscript in the hand of János Scholz. V. 1 consists of paste ups of a ms. version of the recitative and a printed version (no publication information available) of the aria. V. 2 contains another ms. version of recitative no. 40 with an added English title, (Evangelist) "Yet did Jesus say nothing" followed by a ms. of the aria, "Komm su?sses Kreuz.
