"The Ray" Newspaper, Boston Theatre, "Rip Van Winkle"
The Ray newspaper, dated 12 May 1875, a publication of the Boston Theatre. This newspaper is printed on one large sheet of thin paper and folded in half to be four pages long. The cover page advertises that evening's performance of "Rip Van Winkle" starring Joseph Jefferson, listing the entire cast. The rest of the newspaper is filled with advertising, anecdotes, and jokes, as well as a listing of the "Splendid Dramatic Company" of L. R. Shewell, then the stock company of the Boston Theatre. Advertisers include Cushman & Brooks, Sage's Trunk Depot, J. E. Ewing & Co., Choate's Odonto, M. M. Merrill, Page & Bailey's Pure Candies, Florence Sewing Machines, Herring's Safes, and Bacon's Oyster House, among others.

Autograph of Charlotte Cushman given on Nov. 23, 1844 in Liverpool, England. It accompanies a quotation she also wrote from Longfellow's 'Hyperion.' The quotation and autograph are written in ink on pink stationery that looks to have been torn out of a booklet on the left hand side.

Autograph of Edwin Forrest (1806-1872), first star of the American stage. The autograph is in ink and accompanies a quote by Joseph Addison which Forrest wrote above his name in Philadelphia on March 2, 1862. The quote and autograph were written on a piece of paper which was cut down and adhered to a large piece of white paper for display purposes, as an etching of Forrest was adhered above the quote and autograph and labeled 'Edwin Forrest Tragedian!'

Undated autograph of Junius Brutus Booth (Jr.). The autograph is written in ink on a sheet of paper formerly from an autograph album. Other autographs may have been given on this same sheet, as there are two dates listed underneath areas which have been painted over. The two dates are Oct. 28, 1880 and 1883, therefore dating the autograph during JB Booth Jr.'s life.
