Bennett College History
The Bennett College History collection, hosted by the HBCU Alliance, contains photographs of campus buildings from the early period of Bennett College. These photographs provide a view of the campus before it became a college for women in 1926. Prior to 1926, Bennett Seminary was a co-ed campus that was founded by the Freedmens Aid Society in the basement of the St. Matthews United Methodist Church.
Bennett College Scrapbook Collection
This scrapbook by Willa B. Player is a collection of congratulatory letters and certificates commemorating her appointment as the new president of Bennett College in 1956.
Greensboro Truth and Reconciliation Collection
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission Collection contains documents concerning the fatal clash between members of the Communist Workers Party (CWP) and members of the Ku Klux Klan and the Nazi Party which occurred on November 3, 1979, as well as the subsequent investigation and findings of the Greensboro Truth and Reconciliation Commission (GTRC). This collection includes correspondence, hearing transcripts, court documents, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, posters, audio/visual material and photographs, manuscripts, and other materials documenting these events. Digitization of this collection is in progress through the first six months of 2024.
