Millie Freeman (b. 1947), of Lumberton, North Carolina, served in the United States Army WAC (Women's Army Corps) and the United States Army from 1969-1997 as clerical, logistics, ASA instructor, Platoon Sergeant, photo-film instructor, secretary MOLC/BTMS. Millie Freeman was born on 14 April 1947. Freeman enlisted in the U.S./ Army on 8 April 1969, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Millie Freeman was sent to Fort McClellan, Alabama in April 1969 for basic training, and then trained as In July 1969, Freeman went to Fort Lee, Virginia for Supply/Logistics and for Advanced Individual Training (AIT) school for deployment of personnel to Vietnam and other overseas assignments. After AIT school, Freeman was stationed at the Fitzsimmons General Hospital in Denver, Colorado in September 1969. She worked in Audio-Visual, Photo Lab, recording and filming, and processing combat veterans returning from Vietnam. In 1975, Freeman was stationed at the Valley Forge General Hospital, where she served as Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) and Senior Logistics Coordinator for WAC company for Supply. Later in 1977, she served Active Guard Reserve as a Logistics Coordinator for the U.S. Army Transportation Reserve Unit. In 1982, at Wallops Island, Virginia, Freeman served as Senior Logistics at Field Mesh Hospital – Evacuation of NASA for Emergency Purpose only. From 1987-1992 Freeman was with Senior Logistics Mobilization Preparation 650 with the Reserve Transportation Unit. From 1992-1997 she performed the same duties for the 239th Transportation at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Millie Freeman retired from the military in 1997 and and later used the GI Bill for 2 years at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, North Carolina.
