Oral history interview with Sydney Gallegos
Primary documents Sydney Gallegos time in the Marine Corps. Gallegos goes into detail about her experience trying to meet the physical standards to join the Marines. Then she talks about the process of training, boot camp and getting into her desired MOS (avionics technician) and how physically difficult some of the training was. Gallegos discusses her time in both Iwakuni, Japan and San Diego, the jobs and experiences she had, including volunteering in the local communities. Gallegos talks about her experience with gender equality and sexual harassment while in the Marines and some of the ways the military dealt with these issues. The last thing touched upon in the interview was her decision to attend UNCG and moving to North Carolina. She goes into detail about her major, International Business, and her transition from the military to a civilian.
