Oral History interview with Cindy Kempkes
Primarily documents the life of Cindy L. Kempkes and her service with the United States Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard. Kempkes recalls her satisfaction upon receiving the same training in basic training as the male soldiers, but also her frustration with being forced to leave the army once they discovered she was on anti-depressant medication. Kempkes expresses her belief that the tumors she began suffering from were caused by exposure to Agent Orange at Fort McClellan, and her subsequent involvement in the 2014 documentary Toxic Soldiers: The Soldiers Story, about agrochemical and agricultural biotechnology corporation Monsanto and their dumping of polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) into local waterways.
