Oral history interview with Karen Miller
Primarily documents the life of Karen Miller and her service with the United States Navy. Miller recalls sensing at an early age that she wanted to do something to better herself and her life. She also recalls her realization that she was a lesbian and when she was a ship, the importance for the lesbian enlisted sailors to band together in order to keep each other from being outed. Miller reveals her belief and worry that it seems as if only a certain group of people are joining the military, resulting in a less diverse population of servicemembers, and the importance that the military be representative of the entire country.
