Oral History interview with Jude Eden
Primarily documents the life of Jude Eden and her service with the United States Marine Corps. Eden recalls the events of September 11, 2001 and, even though she had not considered enlisting at the time, how she felt that the right thing to do was go to war. She also recalls hearing about how the Iraqi men treated women, and feeling compelled to action. Eden describes thriving during deployment because of the responsibility and respect she was afforded for working hard, her need to establish herself as a reliable asset, and feeling a sense of accomplishment when she was able to do what she had trained to. Personal topics include the disappointment she felt when she was unable to deploy for a second time because of her cancer diagnosis, and her decision to leave the Marine Corps when she knew she could no longer serve as an example soldiers under her.
