Oral history interview with Tricia Sutter
Primarily documents Tricia Sutter's time in the United States Coast Guard. Sutter discusses her educational learning difficulties, the growing awareness of her sexuality during high school, and her parents' approval of her homosexuality. She discusses her decision to join the U.S. Coast Guard as a way to do something meaningful, the work she performed as an instructor, and the struggles she endured having to hide her homosexuality. Sutter recounts the good relationships she had with her peers, the difficulties she experienced once she left the fitness center for a small boat crew, and her belief that the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is a step towards more equality among service members.
