Cheryl Bernhardt (b. 1948), of Knoxville, Tennessee, in the United States Air Force Nurse Corps from 1971-1973, and later worked for the Veteran’s Administration from 1976 until 2007.

Cheryl Bernhardt (b. 1948) was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. In 1970 she earned her nursing degree from East Tennessee State, joined the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corps, and traveled to Mississippi for specialized nurses training. Bernhardt worked at Keesler Air Force Base until 1973, when she took a job as a civilian nurse. In 1976 Bernhardt began work at the Veteran’s Administration and retired in 2007. In 1981, Bernhardt received her master’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
