Oral history interview with Gail S. Enter Horn
Gail S. Horn tells of her early life, education, life prior to enlistment, military service, and life after retirement. Horn relates many incidents and anecdotes of her time in service, relating to such topics as boot camp, combat incidents, drill instructor duty, the changing role of women in the military over the course of her service, and incidents surrounding the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon. She also relates some humorous interactions, such as her involvement with hash running (non-competitive running/drinking club) while in Japan, amusing holiday decorations (also in Japan), and outfitting a purple toy elephant for deployment to Afghanistan as a combination prank and gift to one of her soldiers.
