Ellen L. Scott of Johnson City, Tennessee served in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) and the Women's Army Corps (WAC) from 1943 until 1945 or 1946. She served as a corporal in the 148th WAAC Communications Company in Miami Beach, Florida. She applied for and was chosen for Officer Candidate School at Fort Des Moines, Iowa in the summer of 1943 and was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in Company 5, Regiment 1. In the autumn of 1943 Scott was assigned to the Columbus Army Airfield in Columbus, Mississippi. She later married and lived in Gadsden, Alabama.
