Koveiter Aleitreice Robertson Oral History

Oral history interview with Koveiter Aleitreice Robertson
Primary documents the life of Koveiter Aleitreice Robertson and her service with the United States Army. Robertson recalls the older servicemembers who always took her under their wing and looked after her; especially the female supervisors who she could look up to as mentors, and ask for advice on various topics, including education and being a woman in the military, and talk to about being successful in the military. Robertson describes how being on her own helped her to grow as a person and woman, and how, as a supervisor, she always tried to share her knowledge with her subordinates. She also describes some of her issues with the military, including never being informed the exact reason she was demoted at Fort Gordon, Georgia, and being made to feel as if she was serving other people's interests, instead of the United States', while she was in the military. Personal topics include Robertson's belief that something was always holding her back from succeeding at what she wanted to do; the racial and gender discrimination she felt at all her assignments; the post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) she feels the military has caused her; and how her early desire to make the U.S. Army a career was diminished once she started viewing it differently.
