Oral history interview with Tammella Fletcher
Primarily documents the life of Tammella Fletcher and her service with the United States Navy. Fletcher recalls her desire to join the U.S. Navy to find direction, see different things, and have different experiences in life. She recalls basic training and having to work with people from diverse backgrounds for the first time, and how being obligated to work together as a team produced a positive outcome because they were able to learn from each other. Fletcher describes the hardships of caring for her extremely sick child, and the feelings of isolation and loneliness she felt when she believed her concerns were not being taken seriously by the medical staff. She also expresses her gratitude for the amazing support services that the military has for families of children with disabilities.
