Oral history interview with Candace Lucas
Primarily documents the life of Candace Brown Lucas and her service with the United States Army. Lucas recalls feeling as if she wasn't ready for college after graduation, and seeing the military as a stepping stone to bigger things in life. She discusses her independent nature and how basic training made her more of a team player. Lucas recollects her pregnancy at Fort Campbell, and the opinion that she did not receive the time or attention she should have from the military. She also recalls the frustration of being deployed to Iraq only three months after giving birth. Lucas discusses how the military desensitizes some soldiers, her post-traumatic stress disorder, and the assistance she's received from the Veterans Administration.
