Primarily documents the life of Amber Murray Mathwig and her service with the United States Navy. Mathwig recalls the influence that the September 11, 2001 attacks had on her decision to join the military, the different attitudes and backgrounds of the women she met in boot camp, and learning to work as part of a team. Mathwig recollects family issues she was faced while on the USS Kearsarge and how decisions by the higher ranking officials affected her thoughts about the military. She also discusses her viewpoint that there is a double standard for men and women in the military, the idea that her gender became a problem as she progressed in rank, and her belief that women were not given the same opportunities as men. Mathwig recalls taking part in the 2006 Arlington, Minnesota Sesquicentennial Parade, and her visits to Salalah, Oman in the Middle East and Sicily, Italy.
