Mary J. Hill, was a Union nurse who worked at the Fairfax Seminary Hospital in 1865 during the American Civil War. She married Willis R. Hill, who served as a Sergeant in the Union Army, and had two daughters, (Mary) Josephine Hill and Ella (Ellen) A. Hill. While their parents were away serving their nation, Ella and Josephine were sent to live with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Allen in Clarkston, Michigan.
