Full biography: Marguerite Brendlinger Robinson (1923-2016) of Norristown, Pennsylvania, served in the United States Navy Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) during World War II. Marguerite "Margy" Brendlinger Robinson was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, on February 12, 1923. After graduation from high school in 1940, she attended Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Virginia. Robinson joined the United States Navy Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) in 1944. She attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, for basic training and Officer Candidate School. She was stationed in Washington, D.C., after completing her training. There she worked in the United States Navy Library, which handled all translated messages from both United States military branches and overseas governments. These documents were used during the Pearl Harbor Attack Hearings before Congress. Robinson remained in this position until her discharge after the war. After leaving the service, Robinson continued her education, receiving a master's degree in psychology, and went on to work in social services until her retirement. She died in Raleigh, North Carolina on January 23, 2016.
