Mildred Parish Turton (1913-2005) of Amory, Mississippi, served as a neuropsychiatric nurse in the Pacific Theatre while a member of the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. She was separated from the United States Army at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, on 20 February 1946. For her service, Turton was awarded the Bronze Star, the American Defense Service medal, the American Campaign medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign medal with two bronze service stars, the World War II victory medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the Korean Service medal.
