Oral history interview with Dr. James Carmichael, 2016
Dr. James V. Carmichael, Jr. is a Professor of Library and Information Studies at UNCG. He has taught on the tenure-track since 1989. He holds A.B.(1969) and MLn.(1977) degrees from Emory University and a PhD. from UNC-CH (1988). Dr. Carmichael's research interests include the history of Southern librarianship and gay library history. Dr. Carmichael has been out since 1978 and has served in many capacities at UNCG during his tenure. He discuss his early life and school years, his realization of being gay, how he came to find out about librarianship as a profession and his arrival and work here at UNCG. Dr. Carmichael also discusses many issues important to LGBTQ issues on campus and in the community.

Dr. John D'Emilio was born September 21, 1948 in New York City, New York. He received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1982. From 1983-1995, Dr. D'Emilio was a Professor in the History Department at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He left Greensboro in 1995 to join the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force for two years. In 1999, he began his work at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he worked until 2014. Dr. D'Emilio is a pioneer in the field of gay and lesbian studies, and has written numerous books and articles including: Sexual Politics, Intimate Matters, Sexuality in America, and more. In his interview, Dr. John D'Emilio discusses his early life, LGBTQA history in Greensboro and the United States, and his time at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Mrs. Ashley Frazier was born November 18, 1973 in Norwood, MA. She earned her Bachelor's from Oklahoma State University and her M.S. at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where she worked with a team to develop an evidence-based communication skills training program for student-athletes. Mrs. Frazier has worked as a speech-language pathologist in clinical, corporate, and educational settings since 1998, helping people of all ages communicate more effectively to improve their performance at school, work, and home. In her interview, Mrs. Frazier discusses her early life and work, favorite classes, faculty, and aspects of LGBTQ life at UNCG.

Oral history interview with David Gwynn, 2018
David Gwynn was born August 10, 1964 in Greensboro, NC. Gwynn attended UNCG as an undergraduate from 1982-1984 and returned to UNCG from 1989-1991 to obtain his bachelor's degree in Geography and Sociology. He returned again from 2007 to 2009 to obtain his master's in Library and Information Studies. Gwynn was a DJ and manager at UNCG's campus radio station (WUAG) during his undergraduate years and he discusses his experiences with the the radio station and the music scene surrounding UNCG in detail. Gwynn was also involved with the Student Government Association and discusses many issues that came up during his time serving on SGA. Gwynn was also out as a gay man during his undergraduate years and discusses issues of importance to the LGBT community, including recognition of GLSA (Gay and Lesbian Student Association), Kenneth Crump's suicide in 1982, and attitudes and discrimination on campus and in Greenboro. Gwynn returned to UNCG to obtain his Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), which he received in 2009. Gwynn next became Digital Projects Coordinator for UNCG University Libraries, which is the position he held at the time of the interview (2018). Gwynn discusses issues related to UNCG's MILS program, digitization, library science, and Jackson Library. Gwynn concludes the interview by talking about what UNCG means to him and where he sees UNCG going in the future.

Oral history interview with Janet Joyner, 2019
Janet Joyner is a community leader in supporting LGBTQ youth in Winston-Salem. In 2000, the State Superintendent of Education appointed her to the Safe Schools Advisory Board of the NC Department of Public Instruction where she served for 5 years. She was instrumental in the passing of a state-wide anti-bullying policies, specifically the Stop School Violence Protection Act in July of 2009. Joyner served on the national Advisory Council of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), founding the GLSEN Winston-Salem chapter.

Mr. Payton McGarry was born February 6, 1996 in Wilson, North Carolina. He will graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a degree in Accounting and Business. Mr. McGarry is a part of several community groups including the LGBTQ Center Board of Directors and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and advocates heavily for the LGBTQ community. In his interview, Mr. McGarry discusses his early life, his community and volunteer work, and UNCG.

Ms. Micham is currently the Merle Hoffman Director of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture, and the curator of Gender and Sexuality History Collections in the Rubenstein Library at Duke University. Her interests include: feminist activism and theory, reproductive health and rights, and the history and culture of LGBTQ communities. In her interview, Ms. Micham discusses her early life, time at UNCG, and her work at Duke University.

Oral History interview with Jay Poole
Jay Poole was awarded his Associates degree in Arts, Liberal Studies, from Davidson County Community College in 1982, Bachelor of Arts, Psychology, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1984, his Masters of Social Work in 1999, and his Doctor of Philosophy, Curriculum and Teaching with Specialization in Cultural Studies, in 2009. Dr. Poole has taught at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as an assistant professor since 2010. In this interview, Poole discusses the social climate for LGBTQ+ people in the Triad.
